Why do we have to wash our hands often during pandemic.


Respiratory viruses such as corona virus disease (Coronavirus Disease or COVID-19) spread when mucus or droplets containing the virus enter the body through the eyes, nose or throat. Unicef says, virus transmission often occurs through the hands. The hand is one of the common ways of spreading the virus from one person to another. One of the cheapest, easiest and most important ways to prevent the spread of the virus is to wash your hands often with soap and water, especially during a global pandemic.

Known from Kids Health, washing your hands so far is the best way to protect the body from disease and prevent the spread of germs. Why is washing hands so important in maintaining health? Washing our hands well  is the first line of defense against the spread of many diseases. Washing hands can help prevent the spread of diseases ranging from the common cold to more serious infections. Like meningitis, bronchiolitis, flu, hepatitis A, diarrhea, to corona virus (COVID-19).

            How do germs spread? Germs can spread in various ways, including: touching dirty hands, changing dirty diapers, through contaminated water and food, through droplets in the air that occur when coughing or sneezing on contaminated surfaces through contact with bodily fluids of sick people. When the children attached with germs, they can be infected just by touching their eyes, nose or mouth. Once they are infected, it's just a matter of time until the whole family experiences the same pain.

So, when do we have to wash our hands? To stop the spread of germs in the family environment, make a hand washing rules routine for everyone. Washing hands is important when: before eating and cooking, after using the bathroom, after cleaning the house, after touching animals including pets, before and after visiting or caring for friends or relatives who are sick, and last is after sneezing, coughing or snot after being outside or doing outdoor activities (playing, gardening, taking the dog for a walk, etc.)
